Kim had been battling Emphysema (COPD) for a number of years. Two years ago he had a stroke and he fought hard for a very long time.
On Sunday 31 July, 2016 A reception for Kim was held from 1 to 4 pm at the Army Navy Country Club (Arlington)
1700 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, VA 22202.
Kim was very clear on what he wanted and what he wanted was a wake, a celebration of his life. He did not want anything formal. He wanted people to feel as comfortable as possible.
His passing was celebrated in the company of Kim’s friends and family, who shared stories and smiles and lifted spirits. There wasn’t a formal service.
A note from Kim’s wife, Mary Purdue Luoma
In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Kim may be directed to the charity of your choice or to the family to be directed to a college fund established for the kids.
There have been so many friends and family that have reached out to help and comfort Kim and I as well as our three beautiful children. It’s what kept him going. We are still trying to process the thought of it. It doesn’t seem real.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and loving thoughts.
Mary, Matthew, AnnaLisa and Brendan.
