Eugene Walter Damgen, 89.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on May 25, 2017. Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Theresa McCann Damgen. He was the father of Margaret, Glenn, Marianne and Carol. Also grandfather to Ethan, Eric, Coral and David Maiefski, Alexander, Arman and Aidan Davari, Sebastian Daniels and great-grandfather to Sydney Davari and Rowan and Emma Maiefski. He is also survived by his last remaining sibling, James Arthur Damgen.
Born in Montclair, N.J., he was a 28-year veteran of the USAF, serving in Vietnam-and being awarded the Bronze Star-in 1968-1969. He was also an avid fan of all sports, especially baseball: The Beloved Brooklyn Dodgers of his youth and, since serving and retiring in Southern California, The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Funeral Mass was Wednesday, June 7, 10:00 A.M. at St. Frances X Cabrini Church, 12687 California St, Yucaipa, CA 92399. Graveside service was at 1:00 P.M. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, March ARB, CA 92518.
