Col John Ford a lifelong member of the Air Force visual information family is being recognized in a ceremony by having a new American Legion Post bear his name.
The official ceremony and swearing in for the Arrowhead/John E. Ford III American Legion Post 144 will take place on Wednesday June 10, 2015. AAVS veteran, Stan Kobojek, who served with Col. Ford at Danang, Vietnam in 67/68 was instrumental in getting this new American Legion Post established and charted in the north Phoenix, Arizona area. According to Stan a local church hall has been reserved and every bigwig in the state American Legion Organization, some national legion figures, and a bunch of local politicians have already been invited. They want to make this a really big deal since Arizona apparently has not created a new legion post in some time.
This is quite an honor and recognition for one of ours. John retired Sept 1, 1992 after 37 ½ years of service passed on Aug 13, 2008. I would encourage any AAVS/Combat Camera veterans who can attend, contact Stan, skobojek@q.com for more information and directions to the ceremony.
