Let’s All Meet in Vegas Baby!!
As most of you are aware, the 2021 full reunion has been postponed until Fall of 2022. However, we are planning a Mini Reunion for those who feel up to travelling and just want to see each other this year without a lot of fanfare.
Barb (Zimm) Eagan and Renée Tyron are planning a couple of military related events and a few informal gatherings at her beautiful home near Sunrise Mountain in east Las Vegas. As we get closer to the date and know how many people are coming, we will finalize all our plans and share Zimm’s address to attendees.
Dates are fixed but tentative plans subject to change
Tentative Plans include:
Oct 14th – Travel day
5:00 PM: Informal get-together at Zimm’s. Light refreshments will be provided
Oct 15th
9:00 AM: Visit to Creech Air Force Base; tour MQ-9 Reaper (remotely piloted aircraft system or “drone”)
- We will plan a carpool of some sort to get everyone there and in the gate
- Lunch on your own (or we will find a local place for all depending on how many people)
1:00 PM: Visit Nellis AFB and the USAF Thunderbirds Squadron
- Tour T-Bird Museum and take group photo in their hangar
5:00 PM: Zimm’s and Jimbo’s House
- Join us for heavy hors d’oeuvres, adult beverages and a DJ
- If you’d like to swim, bring your suit!
- Zoom Call to reconnect with those unable to attend
Oct 16th – Free time
Suggested Activities:
- Valley of Fire – hiking and hieroglyphics
- Red Rock drive through and/or hiking
- Fly Linq – Las Vegas Zipline on the strip
- Bellagio Hotel – Free Conservatory, famous blown glass ceiling and magical fountains
- Indoor Shooting Ranges
- Van Gogh Immersive Art Exhibition – Lighthouse Las Vegas
- And, of course gambling and paying our Nevada State taxes–we thank you for this one!!
5:00 PM: Zimm’s and Jimbo’s House for a special birthday party for one of our own!
- Heavy hors d’oeuvres, adult beverages provided and a DJ with dancing
- If you’d like to swim, bring your suit!
Oct 17th – Travel Day
Fine Details:
Lodging is on your own – a few options are as follows:
- Sam’s Town is the closest hotel to Zimm’s house;
- Downtown hotels are approximately 10-12 miles away
- Zimm can also recommend AirBnbs available nearby
Transportation is on your own
- Rental Cars available at the Airport
- Uber and Lyft are prevalent in Las Vegas
- Carpool with others coming
Cost – Landing Fee: $35 a person (to cover cost of food/adult beverages)
