Ken Hackman's first assignment after graduating from the "Still Photography" course at Lowry AFB was to the 1362d Photo Flight, APCS at Yokota AB, Japan. After a three year tour at Yokota he separated from the service in July 1959. In February 1960 he went to work as a civilian photographer at Lookout Mt. AFS in Los Angeles where he stayed until it closed in July 1969. At that time he moved along with many AAVS functions and people to Norton AFB, CA until 1992 when AAVS became Combat Camera and moved to March AFB, CA. He retired in November 1995. Since that time he continued to serve as Director of the annual DoD Worldwide Military Photography Workshop, coordinator for the Military Photographer, Videographer and Graphic Artist of Year competitions and photographing military and civilian assignments worldwide.
